CATL Hong Kong Research Institute officially settled down

In less than 1 year, CATL successfully "landed" in Hong Kong. On October 15, CATL Hong Kong Research Institute was inaugurated, marking the official settlement of CATL in Hong Kong Science Park. The first phase of the institute will launch nearly 100 research and development projects, and plans to recruit 200 people to engage in scientific research. At the same time, CATL will also cooperate with local universities to vigorously promote industry-university-research cooperation and accelerate the construction of Hong Kong's new energy value chain and zero-carbon scenario. CATL said that Hong Kong, as an important financial, trade and shipping center in the world, has unique advantages in collaboration with overseas institutions of higher learning, high-level talent docking, and international platform construction. The establishment of the Hong Kong Research Institute will become an important platform for CATL to take root in Hong Kong, face the world and gather global forces to serve the development of new energy industry. As we all know, CATL is the global power battery leader, and its market share at home and abroad is significantly ahead of its competitors. In the domestic market, data from January to September show that the installed capacity of CATL power batteries reached 157.69GWh, with a market share of more than 45.8%, of which terpolymer lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries installed first side by side. In the international market, data from January to August show that the installed capacity of CATL power batteries reached 189.2GWh, with a market share of more than 37%, reaching three times as much as LG New energy. In November 2023, there was news that CATL was considering going public in Hong Kong. CATL has held internal and external discussions with financial advisers about a potential listing that could take place in Hong Kong as early as 2024, with CITIC, CICC, Goldman Sachs and UBS expected to lead the deal, the statement said, citing people familiar with the matter at the time. Although CATL has no plans to launch a secondary IPO so far, its layout in Hong Kong has not stopped. The month after CATL's plan to enter the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, CATL announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hong Kong Science Parks Corporation to set up an international R&D centre in the Hong Kong Science Park, with a total investment of more than HK $1.2 billion, to promote new energy technology innovation and promote Hong Kong's sustainable development. At present, CATL has successfully settled in Hong Kong. Based on this, it will undoubtedly accelerate the process of CATL's globalization strategy and attract more international customers and capital.

Gotion Hi-tech set up Low carbon Research Institute in Hong Kong

Compared with CATL, Gotion was not only established earlier, but also had an earlier layout in Hong Kong. It is understood that Gotion High-tech currently has a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong, namely Gotion High-tech (Hong Kong) Co., LTD. According to the enterprise check platform, Gotion High-tech (Hong Kong) was established in April 2018, but the specific business was not mentioned. In February 2024, Gotion announced that through the above-mentioned wholly-owned subsidiary, it had reached a cooperation with JinjingXineng to jointly establish a Low carbon Research Institute in Hong Kong. According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides will jointly carry out joint research on new technologies and business models of battery energy storage systems (BESS), and promote the research and development innovation, industrial application and market trading of low-carbon technologies on a global scale. Relevant information shows that the low carbon Research Institute established by Gotion High-tech and Jinjing Xineng, registered as Gotion Jinjing Low Carbon Research Institute Co., LTD., has been officially established in January 2024. It is reported that Jinjing New Energy is a new energy service provider listed on the main board of Hong Kong, providing one-stop green electricity solutions for customers around the world. With complete industry licenses, we have built a wide range of cooperation channels and sales networks around the world. Previously, Gotion and JinjingXineng have planned to cooperate in the global development of energy storage EPC projects, construction and operation of battery recycling and other projects, and build shared local and international logistics solutions. Since the beginning of this year, JinjingXineng has continued to promote the establishment of a "global service system for cell recycling from Hong Kong, radiating Southeast Asian and European and American markets", and reached cooperation with Cainiao supply chain. It can be predicted that the further improvement of JinjingXineng's global service system will lay the foundation for its cooperation with Gotion.

EVE Lithium Energy has established Hong Kong EVE Power

Through EVE Power, EVE Lithium Energy incorporated EVE Power Hong Kong Limited in September 2020.
